Hi Siri,
The Arild sailed into a German minebarrage 26.8.1940 at 16:10. The captain had asked for sailing advice, but language problems ended up in the fatal misunderstanding, and she sailed into the barrage. She was blown into 2 parts, and the bow section sank (chrushed by the blast). The aft section with the engineroom and superstructure was towed into Steinestø (fate??) The entire crew survived.
