Hello Ron.
What you wrote re. Eglantine is correct according to a local history book for the Slagen community near Tønsberg, Norway. From the book: The vessel was not a S/S, but a sailing ship, bark. (Perhaps with an aux.engine). A young man from Slagen who went down with the ship was: AB Simon Arthur Thoresen,(19). No other names are mentioned.
I would beleive that U 86 torpedoed the ship since crewmember(s) was killed.
