Emigrated in May of 1889. Naturalization Registration form dated Nov.4-1890 - came on passenger ship. Had a blacksmith shop in Jasper Minn. and also lived in Colman, Sioux Falls and Silver Lake, S.D., as well as several other places, incl. Iowa, but lived in Dell Rapids the longest (from 1944?).
He was buried Jan. 19 in Dell Rapids, Lot 39, Blk.9, Grave 2 (next to Alma's husband and mother in law). Cause of death Carcinoma of stomach. John Hermanson, undertaker. I have his obituary.
Johan visited Norway again in 1914, and returned home to the U.S. on the S/S Laurentic (via Liverpool and Canada). This page http://www.warsailors.com/albums/fampics.html has a picture of him and his brothers, taken while he was in Norway in 1914. |
