Hi all,

Force H sailed on 5 July 1940 (Operation Lever) to finish her job trying to destroy French BB Dunkerque at Mers-el-Kebir after Operation Catapult against French fleet on 3 July 1940.

The Force H was composed by:
BB VALIANT
BC HOOD
CV ARK ROYAL
CL ARETHUSA, ENTERPRISE
and 10 DD

History.net for BC Hood says that the DD involved were: ACTIVE, ESCORT, FAULKNOR, FEARLESS, FORESIGHT, FOXHOUND, KEPPEL, VORTIGERN and WISHART
But for CV Ark Royal differs: FAULKNOR, FEARLESS, FOXHOUND, FORESTER, ESCORT, WISHART, VORTIGERN, VIDETTE, ACTIVE and VELOX

Does anyone know what DD were involved in the operation?

Thank you very much
Jordi

hi, Jordi,

to add to the confusion, u-boat.net mentions nine DDs only

F.A.A. attack on the Dunkerque, 6 July 1940.
Meanwhile ‘Force H’ sailed from Gibraltar at 2000/5. They first proceeded westwards but turned to the east at 2200 hours and proceeded at 22 knots towards Oran.
’Force H’ was now made up of the battlecruiser HMS Hood, battleship HMS Valiant, aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal, light cruisers HMS Aurora, HMS Enterprise and the destroyers HMS Fearless, HMS Forester, HMS Foxhound, HMS Escort, HMS Active, HMS Velox (Cdr.(Retd.) J.C. Colvill, RN), HMS Vidette, HMS Vortigern and HMS Wrestler.

Thank you Urs,

I think the 10th DD was Faulknor and Wrestler didn't take part in the operation.
