Hello again,

there seems to be a couple of small inconsistencies wrt to the sinking of this vessel.

The name of the submarine commander is given as Malanchenko here:

" 5.– 18.9.1942
Ostsee
S-13 (Kptlt. Malanchenko) versenkt im Bottnischen Meerbusen in der Nacht zum 12.9. die finn. Dampfer Hera (1379 BRT) und Jussi H. (2325 BRT), in der Nacht zum 18.9. die niederl. Anna W. (290 BRT). "

The same name (Pjotr Malatshenko) is given in very old forum post describing the loss of Jussi H.

http://warsailors.com/forum/archive/for ... #msg-10546

Is the name given above correct or was the name of the commander Tripolskii as written in

https://www.historisches-marinearchiv.d ... value=1107

The second question concerns the position where the ship was torpedoed. Commonly the position is given as 60.21n 18.00e. That can't be correct given that the location is on land! Is it a case of a simple typo?

Best regards,

Jan-Olof

Hello,

I have the submarine´s commander name as Pavel Malantyenko (Wikipedia, Soviet submarine S-13) and the sinking location 60.21N 19.00N.

Cheers,

Hello Mark,

thank you very much for the information. The sinking location you give seems much more reasonable. It definitely looks like 60.21n 18.00e is a typo.

Best regards,

Tripolsky never commanded S-13, he was commander of 1. submarine division.
