FREELANCE

Post by Aris » Sat Jan 16, 2021 3:32 pm

The yacht FREE LANCE (built 1894 by Lewis Nixon, Elizabethport NJ) show service as an armed yacht in the 1898 US-Spanish war and during WW1 as USS FREELANCE designated SP-830.
Does anyone knows if she also showed service during WWII and where?

Greetings Aris
A search of all editions of: "The Ships and Aircraft 0f the US Fleet" through WW2 have no record of this vessel.

Seems that she did not return to civilian service after WW1, at least not under that name. She doesn't appear in Merchant Vessels of the US (MVUS) in 1920 or 1930.
