Thanks Theodor. The Swedish version of events is slightly different. It claims that the vessel (thanks to you we know it was R 47) passed the Stig at high speed, 20-25 knots, there was no impact. A few seconds later the Captain of the Stig noticed a cylindrical object that approached the Stig's starboard side, he could also see the wake. Shortly afterwards the Stig was hit by this object, holed and sunk.
A theory, could the Stig have been hit by a Paravane or some other kind of device that was being towed by R 47?
some other facts about the Stig for those that are interested:
Owner: Fiskeri AB Svea
Home port: Gothenburg
Insurance value: 125 000 Swedish Kronor
