French tug Fame
Hi, looking for the ultimate fate of the French (Haiphong) tug Fame of 226 grt., built 1857 (rebuilt 1888) but as far as I can tell still going strong during WW.II. She is still in Lloyd's 1945-46 but that does not mean she could not have been lost earlier in the war. Thanks.

Do you have any source, other than Lloyd's Register, for her presence in Haiphong after 1904?
LR is only as good as its sources. It will have known from the previous owners - and perhaps the French Government - about the change of hands in 1904. But there is no evidence in the LR entries of any new info coming their way, in which case the tug's presence could have ended any time.
I checked Bureau Veritas register up to 1914 but she was not listed there anyway. But that was quite normal for Government-owned vessels. Has any photo come to light?

David, only other source apart from Lloyd's is Erich Groener's "Die Handelsflotten der Welt 1942" who also mentions her with homeport Haiphong. No photo I fear.
