I am rather confused by the different sources mentioned in this old thread and where the right answer lies, from the point of view of the former HUNTERFIELD > MAIRI DEFTEREOU
http://warsailors.com/forum/archive/for ... #msg-36329
Options seem to be:
1) > GENOVA > DIANA: Torp. and sunk by HMS UNTIRING, 12 April 1944, 5 miles south of Oneglia (Genoa)
2) > GENOVA > CARMEN: 11 March 1944 sunk by air attack off Imperia
3) > GENOVA > CARMEN: Sunk by air attack at Toulon 12 March 1944, salved and arrived at Trieste, 21 Nov 1945, for scrapping
There seems to be much confusion with another old Greek vessel that was also taken over by the Vichy Government, then to Italy and Germany: BINGEN > MAID OF SAMOS > PAVIA > [DIANA or CARMEN], as well as which fate belongs to which (3 fates for two ships!)
former HUNTERFIELD > DIANA or CARMEN

Re: former HUNTERFIELD > DIANA or CARMEN
Hi,
Maid of Samos became Italian Pavia in 1942 and German Carmen in 1944. Bombed and sunk at Toulon by USAAF 11/3/44.
Mairi Defterou became Italian Genova in 1942 and German Diana in 1943. Sunk by submarine Untiring 12/4/44 off Oneglia.
Regards

Hi David,
No, just the one I've told you. Perhaps it's a mistake. I think in Imperia there were no ships. No USAAF air raid over Imperia in that date.
