minesweeper No. 311

Post by Aris » Wed Jan 29, 2020 7:09 pm

I found a note that a Royal Navy minesweeper under pennant number 311 was build in 1943 in Syria.
Her specs were 36.3 x 6.7 m.
Does anyone knows more on this vessel? Did she belonged to a certain class? Was this part of a number of minesweepers built at that area?

Postwar she was sold to Greek owners in 1943 and converted into a cargo coaster named KERAVNOS.
I believe she is the vessel depicted at: https://www.atpreveza.gr/media/k2/galle ... imani3.jpg
and at : https://www.atpreveza.gr/media/k2/galle ... imani9.jpg (with photoshoped bow)

Probably MMS.311, one of the large class of Motor Minesweepers

see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MMS-class_minesweeper

MMS.311 was built at Tel Aviv, along with MMS.312. Another pair, MMS. 310 and MMS.313 were built at Beirut
