Hi,

Sloop Grimsby was sunk by Italian and German Stukas 25/5/41 near Tobruk escorting tanker Helka, also sunk, along with whaler Southern Maid.
Do you know time of both attacks and sinking?

There seems to be little detail from UK sources, Wrecksite gives some information about both ships, indicating that one ship was sunk earlier and the other later in the day. Have a look.

The group was initially attacked at 12.35 by several JU.88 aircraft but which failed to score any hits.

Second attack at approx. 16.00hrs by numerous aircraft. This resulted in the sinking of the Helka and Grimbsy.

Southern Maid picked up survivors from both ships and reached Mersa Matruh
