Well in the chroniks of the war in the Aegean there is a frequent reference about the ships MERKUR/HORST/PAUL but the evidence of their type are quite mixed. The facts are that the MERKUR/HORST where identical of 212brt while PAUL 200brt. The HORST/PAUL where sunk by torpedo boats on 8 October 1944 and MERKUR by air raid on 18 October 1944 in Salonika harbour.
Their types are refered either as coastal tankers or tug boats or river tank ferries, or other types of wooden construction.
Is there any other reliable information about them maybe?
Thank you!
MERKUR HORST PAUL
