The wreck of the submarine HMS Triumph has been located off Cape Sounion (Greece). She had mysteriously disappeared in January 1942 during a secret mission.

Congratulations to Kostas Thoctarides and his team. The depth is 203 metres so outside the normal range of divers but it has been examined by ROV.
Another wartime mystery solved!
The story of her last patrol and secret operation ISINGLASS (SOE) was described in Chapter 11 of my book "Target Corinth Canal 1940-1944". Captain Atkinson of SOE was shot for having murdered an Italian officer.

Hello Platon,
very interesting information. Does the position of the wreck match any known minefields.
Best regards,
Jan-Olof

Hello Jan-Olof,
According to Kostas, she was not found in one of the minefields I had suggested which leaves two possibilities: she was either victim of an accidental explosion or perhaps she hit a drifting mine.
Best regards,
Platon

Hello Platon,
thank you very much for the information. I guess we'll have to wait for more precise details from Kostas.
