Steamer FRITHJOF of 1859
Hello, the Norwegian steamer FRITHJOF, built as CITY OF EXETER in 1859 (ON27672), 29.08.1901 North Sea, on voyage Tvedestrand - Newcastle (wood), abandoned or 02.12.1900 auf Reise Aalesund - Hull mit Heringen ausserhalb Bukholmen gestrandet und wrack geworden. Which is correct ? Best regards, Kris.

Lloyd's Register is clear (in both the ship register and the quarterly casualty returns) that the 1859 iron-hulled steamship FRITHJOF, which they listed as FRIDTHJOV ex-VINETA ex-CITY OF EXETER was wrecked 2/12/1900 outside Bukholmen (Aalesund for Hull with herrings). Owned by Knut Knutsen OAS, Haugesund
The FRIDTHJOV abandoned, waterlogged, in the North Sea 29/8/1901, Tvedestrand for Leith (Newcastle?) with firewood, was a wood-hulled schooner or brigantine. The crew were picked up by the Swedish smack JESSIE SCIVILL and landed at Kristiansand.

built 1865 (by ??), Tvedestrand
