Arctic Convoys Survivor?

Post by mjbollinger » Wed Nov 17, 2021 2:07 pm

Does anyone know how I can find out if an individual was a crew member aboard an arctic convoy ship iN WWII? Here is all I know...

Name is Thomas Joseph Murphy
Nationality is American (possible dual Irish citizen)
He was later a ship captain so he most likely was an officer at the time. He would have been in mid 20s.
He claimed that he survived a convoy to Murmansk when ships all around were being sunk.

This is a long shot but just wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Marty

Just for elimination:
There was a Irishman,Thomas Murphy, who survived the sinking of EARLSTON in Convoy PQ17, but he was an AB and died as a prisoner in an SS labour camp in 1944.
