Italian tug LITTORIO

Post by davidships » Sat Oct 01, 2022 7:25 pm

On the Naples-based civil port tug LITTORIO (208grt, built 1927 Danzig), I have:
10/5/1940 requisitioned by the Italian Navy, designated F 30
15/8/1943 lost by enemy action at Messina

Anyone know what kind of "enemy action"?

Hi David,

The tug Littorio was badly damaged at Messina during an air raid on the night of 5/6 August 1943. She was abandoned as she could not sail when Allied forces entered the town ten days later.

Best regards,

Thank you, Platon, and for the date correction.
