What was her role/duties whilst with the Portugese

On October 8, 1943, British forces landed in the Azores, including the Horta (Faial island) roadstead to be used as a naval base Four RN trawlers were lent to the Portuguese Navy just then, to reinforce their patrol forces of the archipelago. U-boat.net says the loan was for "territorial waters patrol". From the Admiralty War Diary for 12 June, 1944, I gather that RN crews were sent to Horta to recover two trawlers, namely VASCAMA and CAPE PORTLAND, and sail them back to Liverpool.

A little bit off topic, but maybe there are any hints in this document:

MT 15/1471 - `Vascama' O.N.169200, ex-Admiralty steam trawler: re-fitting for fishing service; life-saving appliance arrangements: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov. ... r/C3246282
