Naval records research in Spain

Hi everyone, Does anyone know a researcher familiar with researching naval archives in Spain? I need to try to locate the deck logs, or similar records, for the Spanish navy cruiser Conde del Venadito from the period November 1895 to January 1896. I am investigating a specific incident in which is m...

Re: Soviet motor vessel Voroshilov torpedoed on 29 March 1942 - are further details known?

Hi Siri,

Thanks for the note. Not sure what happened in the earlier communication. I'd be happy to post some of the databases I created as well as scans I have of some (non-copyrighted) material such as the VMF casualty reports. Let's figure out how to do this.

Looks like the image is visible now. I have assembled the individual scans into PDF files by theater (Black Sea, Northern, Baltic), separated into ships lost and ships damaged for each. If people want copies of the files (they are pretty big -- 700 pages total) send me a PM with your email address a...

I have scans of the individual pages of this report -- there are hundreds. (It is not a single PDF). Here is the scan for the incident in question:

Sorry -- I've tried pasting the actual image but I can't seem to figure out how to get that to work.

Re: russian SNABJENEC VTOROI

Thanks. There are multiple transliteration protocols and they have evolved over time. I have stayed with the US Library of Congress transliteration protocol (ALA-LC). This produces Snabzhenets Vtoroi as the transliteration. The GOST/UN protocol and the BGN/PCGN protocol produce the results you prese...

Re: unknown steamer

If, indeed, this is the correct ship, I can update its history a bit... In 1941, as stated earlier by Maurice, it was renamed VT-527 and put in the service of the Baltic Fleet as a transport In 1943 it was returned to civilian service in the Baltic State Sea Shipping Company (BGMP) as BALTIKA and, a...

Re: russian SNABJENEC VTOROI

Kurt, Snabzhenets Vtoroi (Снабженец Второй) was a fishing ship in the service of Krabomorzverotrest, the Soviet crab fishing fleet. It was not part of the Soviet Far East Sea Shipping Company. As such, I doubt it was on point-to-point transit when it ran aground in heavy fog near the Stone of Danger...
