Re: Naval records research in Spain

Hello Marty,

Have collected considerable Cuban source material regarding supply trips to Cuba from the USA.
No Mascot listed as being authorized by Cuban Revolutionary groups in any USA city.

All 147 expeditions between 1895-1898 funded by these groups are indicated. No Mascot.

German interior ships and lighters seized by Belgium in 1914

Fayler in the Seaborne Trade history indicates some 50 German vessels were seized.
Does anyone know where a list of said vessels may be found?

Where they sent off to England before the Antwerp waterways were occupied by Germany?

S.S. Narwa capsized off the Ems Dec. 12, 1913

Any information on this event? Vessel capsized and there were casualties. Apparently tugs salvaged the ship.

Re: Naval records research in Spain

Hello Marty,

Pardon the expectations aroused in my earlier post, I was initially excited at finding the link and then muted seeing the critical years are missing.

Do love the NY Journal story regarding the Mascot.

PM sent.

Re: Naval records research in Spain

I found the Havanna based newspaper Diario de la Marina online and well it does not include the needed year. https://ufdc.ufl.edu/UF00001565/00006/allvolumes. Originally I thought I had a good source and when I matched the dates I saw no joy, bummer. Well had to post why I recontacted and you see wh...

Re: German ships involved in evacuation of Riga December 1918

Thanks I wrote it was probably memory error on the part of the participant and then searched the first entry and see the 12.1914 : delivered from Union-Giesserei AG, Königsberg, Germany (175) as tugboat / icebreaker HINDENBURG to Kaiserliche Marine, Germany. So that would be the vessel. The eyewitne...

German ships involved in evacuation of Riga December 1918

Hello everyone, Is there a list of German vessels involved in evacuating troops from Riga in December 1918? The last vessel may have departed on January 1, 1919. I see the steamer "Roma" was at Libau on January 2-3 1919. not sure if earlier at Riga as well. Was there a German ship named &q...

Re: Printed sources for Turkish merchant shipping losses in WW1?

For example Russian source indicates: In November 1914, Admiral Ebergardt led a sweep of the coast sinking several steamers and dozens of sailing ships. I presume the steamers would be registered and the sailing vessels am not sure. Russians kept detailed records of how many vessels they destroyed o...

Re: Naval records research in Spain

Hello Marty, Came across this narrative which lists captures. http://www.armada.mde.es/archivo/mardigitalrevistas/cuadernosihcn/30cuaderno/cuaderno30.pdf Nothing is shown for the months in question. It is detailed. You know U.S. State Dept reports from the Embassy/Consulate in Havana might have info.
