Re: Loss of Soviet destroyer Serdity July 1941
Alas, i have limited data about 1941 on Baltic. At least DD GORDY was near, because she come to help to SERDITY. As for german side looks like you absolutely right. There was 3 attacks on destroyers reported at 19.7: 04.09 bu sole plane in 10 km east from Dago east end, bombs 20 m from ship; 09.50 a...

Re: Loss of Soviet destroyer Serdity July 1941
Loss register give us only time of attack, but attacks on SERDITY begin from 17.00 (16.00 Berlin time). She was attacked repeatedly by 4 dive bombers according to my source (Soviet official chronic of war at sea on Baltic). One bomb in 17.15 hit ship in bridge area and exploded boiler which was in u...

Re: Finnmark 1944
Germans burns villages and taken people with them, when retreating. So it's looks logically to them to take also ships and cutters, and to destroy vessels which cannot to be taken. I have read many german Heer and Kriegsmarine documents and never see any precise digits. I think sunk was very small f...

Re: Details of attack by KG26 on SS Henry Bacon
According to Ultra interceptions (DEFE 541/537), 24 Ju.188 fly against "QP-convoy" from Vaernes on 12.01-12.29 Berlin time. Alexander in his book about KG 26 wrote that hauptmann Walter Prinz, staffelkapitan 8./KG 26 was man who sank HENRY BACON. This was first mission for III./KG 26 in Fa...

Re: Soviet motor vessel Voroshilov torpedoed on 29 March 1942 - are further details known?
You right about Chronicle. 6 volumes, 1945-51. I don't think it accessible other than in some specialised library or something. Maybe some are in private use, but i don't know such persons. Question of losses never be of great importance in USSR. Then nobody dig deeply in archives, which now is open...

Re: Soviet motor vessel Voroshilov torpedoed on 29 March 1942 - are further details known?
I'm use pretty old, ex-secret soviet narrative about war at Black sea, named "Chronicle of war actions". Good simple source, based at documents. Also i have loss-register for Black sea, also made in 1950th by soviet MoD, ex-secret thing too. Alas there i find no casualties, only mention th...

Re: Soviet motor vessel Voroshilov torpedoed on 29 March 1942 - are further details known?

Next day ship headed more to south, to Poti. 19.9.42 tug VEZHILOV bring VOROSHILOV from Poti to Batumi. Obviously ship wasn't...
