Yes, it was the 1910 Caprera. Several FS ships, being faster than most merchant vessels, were requisitioned as auxiliary cruisers during the First World War (Città di Catania, Città di Siracusa, Città di Palermo, Città di Messina, Città di Sassari...)

On 15 September 1944 the German torpedo boat TA 14, former Italian destroyer Turbine, was sunk in Salamis by Allied aircraft.
