FREELANCE

The yacht FREE LANCE (built 1894 by Lewis Nixon, Elizabethport NJ) show service as an armed yacht in the 1898 US-Spanish war and during WW1 as USS FREELANCE designated SP-830.
Does anyone knows if she also showed service during WWII and where?

Re: HMS EMS 2

Thank you all. Crolick, that's an interesting theory. Some ex KFK were captured by the British in the Aegean during 1945, such as: GD 93, ex-KFK 196. Captured in Symi 14.07.44 (operation Tenement) and towed to Turkey. GA92, ex KFK 5. Built Greece 11/1943, surrendered 5/1945? UJ.2152, ex KFK 3. Built...

Re: HMS EMS 2

I have no photos of those small auxiliaries in Greek service, but it seems that they were used as base auxiliaries.
HMS FELLOWSHIP was an ex trawler. EMS 2 could be something similar...

HMS EMS 2

In 1945 the Royal Navy lended two vessels to the Greek Navy HMS FELLOWSHIP ( http://www.fleetwood-trawlers.info/inde ... r/page/10/ ) that became the Fleet Auxiliary 1 and a certain EMS 2 that became Fleet Auxiliary 2.
Does anyone has some information on HMS EMS 2?

Re: tug AMAZON

Thank you very much!
I only don't understand the two lines "->built 1879..."
They refer to the same ship?

tug AMAZON

I am looking for details on the 1910-1938 story of a Danube tug later named AMAZON. What I have so far is the following: Built 1910 at Manswerke (or Hanswerke?) in Holland as ??? (22.5 x 5 m.) 1938 Sold by Societatea de Nav. Dunarea to Othon Kallinikos and registered at Braila under Greek flag as AM...

Re: Greek AGHIOS ANDREAS

She was registered in Piraeus but deleted 5 days later in Patras, at least according to HMA. I suspect that the date of transfer from one register to other was the same, and the date of inscription to the books differed.

Re: Cia de Nav. Vizcaya

Hi Francesco

Thank you for the information. RIPA was indeed sold to Greeks (Mme Sigalas & Co) but not scrapped as mentioned. She was renamed TETI and was lost by grounding at Pillion on 16 October 1942 while under German control.

Re: Greek AGHIOS ANDREAS

Very interesting David. Unfortunately I don't have Piraeus No.284 on my notes but I kept a note to check what was her post 1947 story - once access to the registers will be allowed again.

Re: Cia de Nav. Vizcaya

Thank you David
Since she appears in the list of Spanish ships, it is safe to assume that despite her Panamanian flag she was owned by the same Spanish owners.

Cia de Nav. Vizcaya

In 1930 the steamer AULDMUIR was sold to Cia de Nav. Vizcaya, registered in Panama and was renamed RIPA. I am trying to find additional information on this company and her areas of operation. Was it the same company as Compañía de Navegación Vizcaya, registered in Santander, that owned the steamers ...

Re: tug ATHINA

Sorry for my belated answer as somehow I missed the later replies. Many thanks Andreas, David and of course to Victor and Sergey for this wealth of information. David, unfortunately I have not seen any photos of her as ATHINA but only in her post-ww2 reincarnation as a cargo motor coaster. The bow h...

Re: ancient ERIDANO, Bari 1943

Hi David
Very interesting ship story, never thought she could survive that long.
I am sure you know that in December 1943 a huge ammo explosion took place in Bari harbor with many ships sinking as a result. If she was still there then she probably didn't survived this...

tug ATHINA

Steam tug ATHINA (30 x 7 m, 117 grt) was registered in Lavrio (no.2) in 1939. Previously she was registered in Braila under Greek flag (no.88) since 1924. Any details on her date and place of construction or previous names would be most welcomed. Any information on her 1941-45 whereabouts are also s...
