Good morning Erling!

I'll put EILENAU on my ?? list of potential scrappings in Norway after WW II. Also I'll have a look into Lloyd's List and/or Confidential Index when I get next to Guildhall Library in London - I am pretty sure that movements will have been reported (tugs with wreck or something similar).

Thanks, Axel

Hi Axel,
I don't have information about the place were the Eilenau was broken up.
But by checking this, I discovered that she was raised from June to August 1948 (not 1951!) by Norsk Bjergningskompani's "Traust" and "Uller".
Source; Archive of Norsk Bjergningskomp.

Best regards

Hi Jordi,

da in this case does not mean danish! It is is the German shortening for "dampfer" = steamer; df is "dampffischereifahrzeug" = steam trawler etc..

I know why I sometimes prefer the English language :-)

Cheers, Axel

Hi Theo!

Danish ship Thielbek (2.815 Tn) was sunk there?
There were another Thielbek (2.815 Tn) sunk on 3/5/45 by RAF aircraft in Lubeck Bay.

Do you think if both ships are the same or not?

I think they are the same ship, and Thielbek was sunk on 3/5/45. Could anyone give any light about that?

Hallo Jordi,

Myrland 321 BRT 1918gebaut. britische Prise ???

Grüße

Hi,
The following vessels were total losses (not raised ever or after the war):
* German SS and fishfactory Hamburg (1911/5470) - still as wreck in Svolvær harbour.
* German SS Felix Heumann (1921/2468). Raised in 1947 and repaired.
* German SS Eilenau (1910/1404). Raised in 1951 and broken up.
* German auxiliary trawler NN-04 / Krebs (1925/376). Wreck not located.
* Norwegian coastal express SS Mira (1891/1152). Wreck is located outside Svolvær.

Raised during the war:
* German SS Bernhard Schulte (1923/1058). Raised May 41 and repaired.
* German SS Gumbinnen (1922/1381). Raised March 41 and repaired.
* German trawler SS Rissen (1915/261). Raised during 1941 and repaired.
* Norwegian trawler Andø (1905/99). Later raised. Final fate?
* Norwegian trawler Grøtø (1873/99). Raised and repaired.

The SS Pasajes was not in Lofoten during the raid, but appears in a lot of sources as lost during operation Claymore. Probably from a mix-up with the Gumbinnen in British sources.

Best regards

Hi friends

On 4/3/41 british commandos attacked german installations and ships in Lofoten islands (Norway). I know that germans ships "Felix Heumann", "Mira" and "Hamburg" were sunk and "Bernhard Schulte" and "Gumbinnen" were captured. The question is if two more ships, called "Pasajes" and "Eilenau", were sunk or captured. Does anyone could tell me this?

Thank you
