According to the danish book "De sejlede bare.." by H.C. Roeder written in 1957, there should only be 2 danish ships in Japan 1940: M/S Nordbo and S/S Gustav Diederichsen. Nordbo was later taken ower by Japan and went in service with jap crew and flag. Gustav Diederichsen went in service as chartered but was torpedoed in 1942. At that occation Captain Elberg died, but the rest of the crew reached land later same day.
The book give no detailed information, but I hope you can trace your fathers life from theese information.
