Hi Phil,
short of going to the PRO & hoping the records have not been destroyed, there is no proof the ER of Acasta was secured. The hit were in the after part of the compartment and initially she was unable to stop or steer, then the damage to the steam lines caused to go dead in the water, but in "Jutland, an analysis of the fighting, Campbell states unequivocally that the crew was attempting to carry out emergency repairs, which (to me at least) would indicate someone was in the ER attempting to cross-connect the line or something like that. She was stppoed for 6 hour but sustained no further damage after the 2 x 15 cm hits so her crew could work in (relative) peace, though unsuccesfully.
