I am researching my old school ROH WW1 & WW2.
Herbert James Bailey, ERA aboard HMS Acasta was a casualty. He died at the Battle of Jutland when Acasta took 2 x 5.9 shells to the engine room with 4 others. Acasta was towed to Aberdeen and Herbert James Bailey was transported to Horsham by train. My presumption is that damage control would have closed the engine room doors. Two questions:
1 Does anyone have proof of my presumption?
2 Does anyone have the names of the other casualties in the engine room?
Incidentally he is buried no more than 1000 yards from my house.
