Hi Jordi,

Got this from several war diary summaries.

At 1149 hours on 22 February 1943 Redoubt was detached fom convoy CF 11 (B) to fuel at Casablanca. (This time is noted in the logbook of HMS Valiant)

She sent a signal timed 0001Z/23 'Stem and A/S dome damaged by whale.'
I therefore presume that she must have hit the whale very late in the evening of the 22nd.

Another signal, timed 0950Z/23 stated 'Sustained damage to stem and loss of A/S dome. Circulator inlet in boiler room leaking badly. All three defects necessitate docking. Intend effecting temporary repairs to make ship seaworthy for passage to Gibraltar.'

She arrived at Casablanca on 23 February to fuel and affect tempory repairs.

She departed Casablanca on 28 February for Gibraltar where she arrived in the morning of March 3rd for docking and repairs.

Kind regards,
Brian Corijn crew
