listed all ships built in 1897 by Hawthorns & Co, Leith
andf there are no any ship matched. Except of 2 steamers for Hull, 4 barges of 120t for Capre Town and 2 lighthips of 40t for Granton were built.
So, the WSS yard list of Hawthorns is wrong in that point!

The was yard No.61 yacht EUGENIA launched 5 Nov 1896
registered for voyage with British ON104923 to John Inglis
as Leith 10/96. She was delivered to J.Gardner Cassett of Philadelphia. British registry closed 1896 as sold foreign (USA).

Purchased by U.S. Navy on 9 June, 1898. as USS SIRIUS
Handed over to the Virginia Naval Militia in 1899 and also used as a tender at Norfolk Navy Yard until being stricken in August 1910 and sold a few months later to Americans residing on the North coast of Hondruas, which have diverted it to commerce. And she was renamed GENERAL BARAHONA and very probably immediately presented to the Hondruan Navy.
She was converted as a gunboat
In 1916 wehen lying in New orleans she was purchased by
Steele Towing & Wrecking Company and converted into a tug.
