The entry in Gröner's DDK is definitely wrong.
Igor is right, as this was the result of a discussion in [www.Forum-Marinearchiv.de
]. The attacker had been Mosquitos of the "Banff Strike Wing".
The auxiliary salvage vessels "Ernst Hugo Stinnes" (3295 grt) and "Else Hugo Stinnes" (3291 grt) were sunk on the same day, but far to the south, near Marstall (AErö Island). At the Moment, I have no idea, which RAF Squadron may have been the attacker. Any suggestions ?
