While attacking a merchant ship in a northbound enemy convoy, HMS Snapper (Lt. W.D.A. King, RN), torpedoed and sank the German auxiliary minesweepers M 1701 / H.M. Behrens (525 GRT, built 1938) and M 1702 / Carsten Janssen (472 GRT, built 1938) north-east of Skagen, Denmark in position 57°55'N, 10°53'E.
I am interested in the convoy ("Seetransportstaffel"?) being escorted by trawlers of the 17th MS-flottilla.
I suppose either Group 1 "Moltkefels" or Group 2 "Belgrano, Friedrich Breme". Can anybody help ?
Group 3 was escorted by 11. MS-Fl. and Group 4 by 15. MS-Fl.
With best regards
Thomas
