Albert Kolbe was my father and for a few years now I have been trying to get his War Medals which he never claimed.
I have corresponded with m.c.g.a, but every time I send copies of documentation that they ask for, they ask for something else.
My father signed on as an Engineer with the Athel Line on the North Atlantic Convoys. Unfortunately there is not much in his log-book, but I obtained a copy of his signing on the Athellaird July 1940. Sadly she was sunk 03.07.1940. Happily my father was rescued and in 1941 signed on the Athel Empress. During convoy HX-159, the Athel Empress was escorted into Reykjavik where my father was admitted into hospital with a Duodenal Ulcer. m.c.g.a have accepted his signing on the Athellaird, and it`s sinking, but they insist on a copy of his signing on the Athel Empress even though they accept his discharge into Reykjavik hospital.
Has anybody else had problems like this?
