Hello Jan-Olof and Thomas,
On 23.09.1944 UJ 2102 was attacked by HMS Vampire with three torpedoes and missed and on 26.09.1944 (position: 39°18'N, 23°21'E) she foiled an attack by HMS Upstart and replied with two patterns of depth charges, the first was close but the second was further away and the submarine escaped. In both instances the submarine chaser operated alone.
One question remains unanswered: at 2149 hours on 24.09.1944 in the same area HMS Upstart fired two rounds at a caique before a correct recognition signal was made. I have been unable to identify this vessel. Perhaps one of the Levant Schooner Flotilla. Any clue?
Best regards,
Platon
