The italian gunboat (ex-passenger ship) GIORGIO ORSINI was sunk (or scuttled) in September 1943 somewhere in Greece.
Does anyone knows the date, place and cause?
To whom it may interest, the ship was refloated postwar and renamed AGIOS NIKOLAOS. While various sources mention that she was foundered off Crete on 15.12.62, this is not correct.
She was renamed DODEKANISOS in 1953 and employed as an inter-island ferry in the Dodecanese. She foundered off Cape Krios on 23.3.58; 28 lives lost.
