Thank you, George, for this new info.
According to “Air war for Yugoslavia, Greece and Crete”, 1987 (R 1999), page 52, on Dec., 19th, 1940, 24 Ju87 of 96. Gruppo of the Regia Aeronautica attacked shipping in Porto Edda, “claiming one small vessel sunk”. Porto Edda , from 1939 to 1944, was the name of Saranda (or, in Italian, Santi Quaranta) in honour of the daughter of Mussolini, Edda, wife of the minister for the foreign affairs Galeazzo Ciano. The town had been taken by Greek Army during their counter-offensive after the Italian invasion. This fits quite well with the fate of Votrys.
AFAIK, the picture of Greek merchant losses during the Italian-Greek war before the German attack (oct., 28th, 1940-April, 5th, 1941) should be the following (various sources, including warsailors posts):
Athinai, 2897 grt, captured by torpedo-boat “Schiaffino”, 28/10/1940, off Messina
Vivi, 489 grt,9/11/1941, mined, off Patras
Votrys, 239 grt, bombed by Ju87/96. Gruppo, 19/12/1940, Saranda
Kate, 5197 grt, mined, 28/01/1941, from Thessaloniki to Evia
Maria Nomicou, 1165 grt, ?/03/1941, bombed, Tigani (Chios)
Sussanna, 882 grt, bombed by Ju87/239. Squadriglia, 4/04/1941, off Corfù
Any infos about the mines which sank Vivi and Kate (greek defensive/Italian offensive barrages, floating mines) ?
Any info about the sinking of Maria Nomicou, in particular the exact date ?
No caiques, small fishing vessels or similar were lost during that period ?
Thanks in advance for any help
