Hello all.
Seems to be some mistakes re. Salvsens BRANDON and CORONDA, and the company name:
Chr. Salvesen & Co., Leith formed and managed a company called "The South Georgia Company Ltd.", (not South Georgia Whaling Co.).
BRANDON: This Salvesen vessel did never belonged to the S.Georgia Co., but to Salvesen's Mediterranen and Deep-Sea Trade.
CORONDA(1): Good old Coronda was never converted or used as a whaling factory ship, but as transport/supply vessel for The South Georgia Co. Ltd.s activities at Leith Harbour, South Georgia. She was a pioneer ship at South Georgia as she transported the very first equipment and crew to Salvesen's Leith Harbour station from UK and Norway in 1909. A mountain top near Leith Harbour is named after the vessel; Coronda Peak.
Regards
Ulf
