The words "chased back" here is only my dad's expression for saying "forced to go back because enemy units had been spotted" (Letters No. 2 and 4 in [www.warsailors.com])
- the stoker puts it this way "The flag of the war ship went up and commanded the whole convoy to turn around. What had happened no one knew just then. But we turned around"

The convoy you mention looked like it could be it at first glance, but it looks like that convoy actually originated in Bergen, so can't be the one afterall, if that's the case.

I tried to condense quite a lot of information into my posting, and though I attempted to do so in the right sequence, it may look a bit messy to someone who doesn't know the whole story like I do. If anyone is interested in getting a clearer picture of what went on, most of the links under the heading "Odd's War" at the end of each of my ship pages will provide the details (or even the page about my father [www.warsailors.com] which is more like a summary of all these events).

Thanks Terry!

Siri
