Just been given a book about Rudi Wieser's life in the U-bootwaffe. He served on U 763 and was one of the survivors of U 1195, who made an astonishing escape from 40m without a life-preserver. Rudi kindly presented the signed book to me, via a friend of his, Jürgen Meyer-Brenkhof, Fregattenkapitän a D.
It's in German, but what I can translate, makes excellent reading.
