Hi,

I’m trying to find out a little more about a story my grandmother told me. She was on a Swedish ship from the US to Britain which was stopped and searched. As they were found out (they were going to Britain even though they flew the Swedish flag) they were allowed to abandon ship while the U-boat torpedoed the ship. Since staring the search I have found the ship to be the Suecia which went down Sunday 16th August 1942. I also found a story she had written which was published. It detailed their 7 days in a lifeboat waiting to be rescued. Finally they were rescued but not before my her fiancé fell overboard and succumbed to the sea. it’s a horrible story she used to tell us and now I am trying to find out more. So if anyone knows of any further information about the ship, the crew, the boat that rescued them or the people.. Please get in touch! I am having real problems finding out any more so your advice on areas to research would also be most welcome.

Thanks!
