French Navy tug TENACE

The French naval tug TÉNACE ex-AUROCH ex-L'AUROCH (1921) was seized by German forces at Bizerta on 8/12/1942 and commissioned in the Kriegsmarine, based at the naval arsenal at Ferryville (now Menzel Bourguiba), Tunisia. On 23/3/1943 she was sunk by British torpedo bombers "off the Tunisian coast". The position is usually given as 38°05'N 12°22'E. [Gröner, Roche, Miramar etc]

This position seems wrong - it is close to Sicily, west of Trapani and about 100 miles from the Tunisian Coast. Something closer to 37°05'N 10°22'E would seem more likely. Can anyone throw any light on this?
