Hello Jan-Olof,

SATURNO was the same ship (ex French MASSIS, 5022 GRT, 1914). ASA is in error here: they credit SAFARI with sinking TITANIA at 0020/20 October and SATURNO at 0618/20. Actually TITANIA was hit and sunk at 0618/20 (she had been damaged by a torpedo bomber at 2330/19 and was stopped at the time) and there was no attack at 0020/20 and SATURNO was undamaged. At 0529/20 SAFARI had also fired a single torpedo from 6,000 yds at TITANIA but missed.
SATURNO was hit by torpedo and bombs at 1340/20 January 1943 and taken in tow by the torpedo-boat ARDITO but finished off by a new air attack at 0224/21.

Best regards,

Platon
