Hello all,
Brian: The North Atlantic War Diaries (Gibraltar) in ADM199/661 first reports that BRITISH YEOMAN had been torpedoed but then adds that "subsequently it was learned that the attack had been unsuccessful and the ship arrived at Gibraltar later with only slight damage". No further details.
Andrzej: Agostini observed the erratic run of three torpedoes (he reported that the torpedoes made a "phosphorescent" track, "scia molta luminosa", or ran on the surface), another simply missed and the tanker avoided the fifth. He does not record the time elapsed between the firing of the torpedoes and the explosions.
Roger: thanks for the NA references, I will try and have a look at the files on my next trip.
Best regards,
Platon
