details of the sinking are really speculation, since Neghelli was never heard from after sailing for patrol from Leros on 14/4/41. It is almost certain she attacked a British convoy on 19/4 40 nm NE of Falkonéra, Western Cyclades and succeeded in torpedoing the AP Clan Cumming in 37.15 N, 24.04 E. The ship remained afloat and was eventually brought into port.
The escorting DD Greyhound counterattacked with DC barrages and reported "questionable results" but Neghelli, the only Italian sub in the area, failed to return from patrol. The position is 48 nm bearing 160.4 from Athens.
