Hi,

I'd like to confirm the circumstances under which the following ships were taken over by the Allies. Specifically, in which port were they found and who took them in prize. All eventually ended up in Soviet hands.

1. STRAUSLAND
Completed in 1911 as REGINA
STRAUSLAND starting in 1940
Used to evacuate refugees from East Prussia
In Copenhagen at end of war (?)
Delivered to USSR in March 1946 and renamed ANIVA

2. RÜGEN
Completed under that name in 1914
Uncertain status at end of the war; was serving in the Baltic
Decommissioned in 1945 and handed over to the USSR; renamed IVAN SUSANIN

3. NORDLAND
Completed under that name in 1924
Taken in prize in 1945, possibly by USSR. Location unknown.
Renamed DERZHAVIN by USSR

4. WINDHUK
Launched in 1939 as SALON; renamed WINDJUK in 1940
Taken in prize either in Hamburg or Rostock
Converted to passenger ship with name PRIMORE

5. BUG
Completed in 1916 as OSSTERLAND; renamed HIGHLAND and MARE
Taken by Germany in 1940 and renamed BUG
Found in Kristiansand in May 1945
Ended up in USSR as NIVA

Does anyone know the circumstances of these ships at the end of the war? Many thanks.

Marty
