Yes, I wondered that from my mother's recollection of having had four days in both Montreal and Sydney - she remembers going to have her hair done at a salon with some other passengers which was rather a waste of money for a sea voyage! I looked at HX301 and saw it too was very large, but didn't see the Curacao listed there either. But the dates certainly fit better. When I asked my mom about the August 6 lunch menu, see at first said she had arrived in Scotland, and that it was the same port she had departed from on board the Queen Mary a couple of years earlier; when asked about the time difference, she thought perhaps they had gone south to Portsmouth, but her first impressions were correct (she'll be very glad to know!).
The newspaper articles about the 'largest convoy' came out several weeks or months after the fact, without specific dates, so her conclusion that she was on HX-300 was an easy error to make, given that HX-301 was also so large.
Olaf, I'll see if your e-mail works, otherwise I'll ask Siri. Do you have any photos of the ship and crew? My mother may remember your father. You could send info either to the morley@ address or to this one, my wife's at home.
Thanks so much - my mom is absolutely thrilled with the information! She is almost ready to buy a computer herlelf (at 86).
