Siri, the Vera you refer to was built in 1934 and was always Vera.6485 GT.
The Hoegh Rays being numbered are just AWMs way of tracking Hoegh vessels. So you have:
1937.M/S Hoegh Ray ( 1 ) 9,357 GT ( no info )
1939. Le Havre 11,032 GT became M/T Ohio then in 1947 when bought by Hoegh ( from Kerr Steamships )became Hoegh Ray ( II ) then sold and renamed Vera in 1953 and later Ronaville.
1967. Hoegh Ray ( III )42,095 GT built for Hoegh.
Hope this simplifies things for every one.
As I pointed out in mail M/T Ohio and the Texaco tanker Ohio of Malta fame were not the same ship and are often confused with each other. The Texaco Ohio was a bit smaller but was a " fast " tanker ( 16 kn.)and was loaned to Britain by the US in 1942 for fast convoys.
I am sure the picture of Vera in 1942 is one of the Vera blt. 1934 and the AWM just has some info wrong.
